Scores Of Vendors Affected By May Pen Market Fire

Mayor of May Pen, Winston Maragh, says at least 60 vendors were affected by a fire which damaged several stalls in front of the May Pen market.

Mayor Maragh says an assessment was done this morning after his team did a walk through of the area.

The fire which took place yesterday has left the vendors without their wares or a place to ply their trade.

However, the fire brigade is yet to ascertain the cause of the blaze.

The Mayor says due to the location, the greater market infrastructure was spared, but public health concerns have forced them to cordon off the area and find somewhere to relocate the affected vendors

Mayor Maragh says he’s looking to find additional assistance for the vendors days before the busy and lucrative Christmas period begins.

He says by Thursday he should have definitive information for those affected.
