The Trelawny police have taken into custody a man who was named as a person of interest into Friday morning’s gruesome killing of a male and female in the southern part of the parish.
The story was originally reported as a murder-suicide, however, police reports now say it was a tactic by some community members to allow him to escape.
The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Sophia Bryan, otherwise called Carol and 28-years-old Junior Bailey, also called Bad Walk, both of Freeman’s Hall, Ulster Spring, Trelawny addresses.
Reports are that about 4:00 am on Friday, the police were called after the bodies of Bryan and Bailey were found in a house in their community with multiple stab wounds.
The police subsequently named Garfield Edwards, who is otherwise called Milo, as a person of interest in the double murder.
Bryan reportedly recently severed a relationship with Edwards, who is also a resident of Freeman’s Hall.
Police sources said Edwards was held in a nearby community on Friday night when he attempted to sell a stolen cow to a community member who summoned the police and he was subsequently arrested.
