Nationwide News understands that some Jamaica Urban Transit Company, JUTC, drivers are restive.
The disquiet among the State-owned bus company’s drivers follows yesterday’s arrest of one of their colleagues.
Police sources tell our news centre that the JUTC driver who operates from the Spanish Town depot in St. Catherine was charged with larceny as a servant.
The criminal charge was laid on the driver after he was allegedly found to have transported approximately 60-passengers who did not have tickets.
The driver spent last night in jail after he was arrested and charged.
He was released on bail this morning.
It’s understood that some JUTC drivers planned to withdraw their services today in protest of the arrest of the driver.
However, the action was called off before it commenced this morning.
The restive drivers are being represented by the Universal Allied Workers Union, UAWU.
