Chief Medical Officer, Dr Jacqueline Bissasor- McKenzie says by next week Jamaica should be able to test for the novel coronavirus.
She says training is to begin tomorrow for local health professionals.
She says in the interim, tests are being conducted at the Caribbean Public Health Agency, CARPHA and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, CDC.

Meanwhile, PAHO/WHO representative for Jamaica, Dr. Bernadette Theodore Gandi says Jamaica is in a unique position to assist the region with the novel coronavirus testing.
She’s also noting that the region has been taking the necessary precautionary measures to prevent the deadly virus from entering.
