JACRA Ramps Up Enforcement Against ‘Jamaican Coffee Posers’

The Jamaica Agricultural Commodities Regulatory Authority, JACRA, says its ramping up enforcement measures against businesses that sell coffee, purporting to be authentic Jamaican premium coffee brands.

JACRA says it’s collaborating with the Major Organized Crime and Anti-Corruption Agency, MOCA, to undertake a major enforcement drive to force companies to stop engaging in the illicit practice.

Public Relations Officer at JACRA, Allan Brooks, says for years the entity has tried to use moral suasion to no avail.

He says the seizure of the contraband products will incur penalties and appropriate sanctions.

He says the practice is prevalent and costs the nation millions.
